DDC Chairperson reviews developmental works in B’pora

Bandipora: Chairperson, District Development Council (DDC) Bandipora, Abdul GaniBhat on Tuesday chaired a meeting of officers to review the progress of different developmental works in the district.
The meeting was attended by ADDC, Ali Afsar Khan; ACD, Abdul Rasheed Das; ACP, Chief Agriculture Officer, Chief Horticulture officer, Executive Engineers of PHE/ R&B/ PDD, all DDC members and chairpersons Block Development Councils besides officers of concerned departments.
The DDC Chairperson took the firsthand progress update about the ongoing projects of RDD, R&B, PMGSY, PHE and JJM.
ADDC informed the chair about the status of each work and discussed the bottlenecks that hinder the pace of work.
He informed the chair about the ongoing works including works taken up under Area Development Fund for Panchayat Raj Institutions including DDC, BDC and PRI grants.
The meeting was informed that 1026 works costing Rs 37.44 Cr have been approved including 839 works under PRI grants, 94 under BDC grants and 93 under DDC grants.
Giving an update about the implementation, officers informed that 710 works have been completed that amounts to 80 percent of the financial expenditure costing about Rs 22 cr.
He urged the officers to clear the issues like land disputes so that works are completed well in time. He also asked the officers to utilize the manpower under MGNREGA so that the target of 100 days job to unskilled and unemployed youth of the villages is met.
He said with the improvement in weather conditions officers should start the work again that has been halted due to adverse weather conditions.
All the officers assured the chair that the pending works will be completed well before the end of this financial year.
All the concerned DDC members highlighted the issues of their areas including incompletion and macadamization of roads under PMGSY and R&B, Pipes leakage, lack of staff in schools, upgradation of classes and labs, augmentation of healthcare services etc.
On the occasion, Vice-Chairperson KousarShafeeq, said they are cooperative with all departments and all departments should speed up their work and fulfill the genuine demands of people. She hoped that at the end of the financial year all the work will be completed, as we are all answerable to people and we will coordinate with all departments whatever and whenever they will need them.
Earlier, Bhat said that all the demands by DDC members will be followed and taken to logical conclusion.
He urged the members to prioritize works regarding preservation of water bodies including rivers, rivulets and strea
ADDC stressed on working in coordination with the PRI members and officers to ensure smooth implementation of the projects. He assured full cooperation to the DDC council to ensure timely completion of projects.
