Anantnag: The weekly Block Diwas was on Wednesday held at three locations in Anantnag viz. Khoveripora, Qazigund and Achabal. Deputy Commissioner Anantnag and other senior officials of the district presided over the events.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, DrBasharatQayoom presided over the Block Diwas at Khoveripora block.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that the massive participation of people reinforces the belief of the people in grievance redressal mechanis He said that line departments should ensure an objective approach towards grievance redressal so that in the minimum duration, genuine issues of the people are resolved.
He appealed to people to focus on genuine demands and works of community benefit while devising development plans to accelerate the rapid transformation of the area.
DrBasharat appealed to people that they must be active collaborators in making the panchayats of Anantnag drug free and garbage free. He said that for achieving both these goals, the main contribution has to come from the people while the Government provides institutional support.
He said a healthy and clean panchayat is the productive ground for young minds to prosper and become active contributors to nation building. He highlighted the role of PRIs, religious leaders, SHGs and public icons in mobilizing people against the menace of drugs.
The locals from Khoveripora and adjacent villages had gathered in large numbers and shared several issues with the DC who gave a patient hearing to the people.
The issues included functioning of street lights at Rambirpora, water supply for Rambirpora, driver for allotted Ambulance at Rambirpora, desilting of Martand canal, blanket ban on bang and poppy cultivation etc.
The sarpanch of Badigam and Fohar raised the demands like upgradation of primary school Manzigam and construction of dispensary at Fohar, WSS for GanisporaFohar. The DC solicited answers from line departments on the spot and issued necessary directions.
The DC was accompanied by Joint Director Planning and other senior officials from line departments. BDC Khoveripora, BDO and other PRIs were also present on the occasion.
At Qazigund, ADDC Anantnag Bashir Ahmad Wani presided over the event and gave a patient hearing to the grievances raised by people. He stressed on a result oriented approach and appealed to people to take benefit of the various online services to increase the transparency and accountability in functioning of schemes.
At Achabal, Additional Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Gulzar Ahmad Bhat chaired the block diwas. He gave a patient hearing to the demands of the people and issued directions for time bound redressal of grievances.
