Srinagar/Sep,2:Hurriyat (M) chief Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was placed under house arrest late last night to prevent him from leading Eid congregation at Eidgah.
A spokesman of the outfit said that a police party reached at the Nigeen residence of the Mirwaiz and placed him under detention.
However, Mirwaiz addressed the faithful who had arrived at the Eidgah for prayers over phone.
