DC B’pora presides over public interaction Prog, Discusses town devactivities, listens to public issues

Bandipora: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr. Owais Ahmed on Wednesday presided over a public interaction programme at Mini Secretariat here to discuss various town development activities and listen to the public issues.
The programme was attended by ADDC Bandipora Ali Afsar Khan, District Nodal Officer Coordination Mohd Ashraf Hakak, JD planning Imtiyaz Ahmad, President MC BandiporaBasharatHussain, CEO MC Bandipora, District Officers of various departments, Executive Engineers, Councillors of MC Bandipora, Civil Society Members, Transporters, traders and large gathering of general public.
The civil society members, elected representatives, traders, transporters raised various issues regarding renovation of washrooms in market area, availability of heads in schools, Repair of footpaths, Macadamisation of pending link roads drainage, traffic congestion, street lights, waste management and other issues.
The DC on the occasion listened patiently to the issues raised and passed on spot direction for redressal of issues and asked officers to redress the public grievances on priority.
Regarding traffic congestion in the main market Bandipora, Dr. Owais said that a traffic management plan has been approved and directed concerned officers to implement the plan for the convenience of the general public.
Regarding encroachment of state, kahcharai and roshni land, the DC said that no one will be spared and all encroached land will be retrieved through impartial approach.
He also urged the public to take permission under rules for any type of construction in the town area.
DrOwais also urged traders to run business as per norms without violation of rules.
While highlighting the role of elected representatives and general public, the DC said elected representatives and general public are essential pillars of the grassroots level democratic process and urged the representatives to prioritize works as per needs of area in planning process.
He stressed officers to make extensive awareness campaigns regarding the online service and strengthening janbhagidari.
Dr. Owais said that people do not have to run from pillar to post to get their work done and urged the public to avail the benefits of online services.
President MC Bandipora, Basharat Hussain Najar highlighted various works carried out during MTMP including Shopping complex worth 45 lakh at New Bus stand, terminal building at Bus Stand, repairing of footpath, welcome boards, kangrichowk and other works.
He said 50% work on Marriage hall has been completed and work on the remaining part is in full swing.
President MC said DPR of Rs. 5 crore was submitted for car parking at main market out of which 35 lakh stands released for which work shall start soon besides work on Children’s park and slaughter house is in the final stage.He said under PMAY-U around 2crore have been disbursed among beneficiaries.
The President MC also urged the public to avail the service of door to door waste collection for proper waste management.
