Pulwama : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pulwama, Baseer-Ul-HaqChoudharyon Friday reviewed the Snow clearance operations, restoration of essential services, status of essential commodities and healthcare services available in the district.
While monitoring the Snow clearance operation in the district, the DC said that all the resources including men and machinery have been mobilized to restore all kinds of services disrupted by Snowfall in the district.
He said that almost all roads under priority-1 were thrown open for traffic on Friday in Pulwama after the district recorded enough accumulation of Snow amid the continuous Snowfall.
He directed the concerned Departments that Snow must be cleared from all roads leading to essential installations and institutions including Hospitals and Government offices on priority basis.
Reviewing the availability of essential commodities in the district, the DC was informed that sufficient stock of essential commodities is available in the district including LPG, ration, vegetables and other essentials.
The DC directed all officers and field functionaries to play a proactive role in resolving public issues. He asked the public to contact Tehsildars and SHOs of their respective areas for any emergency and help in view of Snowfall.
He said the District Disaster Management Control Room is functioning 24×7 to take calls from the public besides being informed that essential departments, particularly the Health Deptt, have already established Control Rooms for immediate response.
DC further directed the officials of all line departments to work on mission mode besides stressed for close synergy and coordination to ensure uninterrupted supply of the essential items and services to the people.
He directed Tehsildars, officials of R&B, Jal Shakti, PDD and other line departments to remain stationed at their locations and ensure prompt delivery of essential items and services to the public and address emergency demands with utmost preparedness.
The DC also directed AC Legal Metrology, DO FSS, FSOs to remain present at their designated locations and conduct regular market checking to keep check on hoarding and profiteering.
The DC further said that power supply has been restored almost completely as all men and machinery is on job to restore power supply. He added that the Mechanical Engineering Department is also on ground to ensure clearance of snow from all roads.
‘We will continue clearance operations the whole night, adding that by Friday evening, every single road in the district will be motorable’, DC informed.
As at 3 pm, the main District roads including Pulwama-Shadimarg-Keller road, Pulwama-Awantipora road, Pulwama-Srinagar road, Awantipora-Tral road and Pampore- Khrew road were cleared by MED. Every effort is being utilized to keep the Pulwama-Sangerwani Road open for traffic movement in case of any more Snowfall through the night, the DC added.
While reviewing the Health services in the District, Choudhary emphasized on cleanliness and regular supply of essential medicines to the needy patients.
During the day, ADCs of Tral, Awantipora and concerned Tehsildars inspected the respective areas to monitor the Snow clearance operation.
