Block Diwas: DC Srinagar holds Public Grievance Redressal camp at Bemina

DC also Inspects progress of works on Shehjar Apartments, 10 Cr Office Complex for L&E Deptt, 3.71 Cr Workshop building at Women Polytechnic

Srinagar: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad AijazAsadon Wednesday held a Public Grievance Redressal Camp at Tehsil Office Bemina under weekly Block Diwasprogramme in order to bring Administration at the door steps of people for an on spot resolution of their developmental issues.
The programme was held within the premises of Tehsil Office Shalteng and witnessed large participation of people from Bemina, KhushiPora, Zainakote, HMT, TengporaBatamaloo, Boatman Colony and other adjoining areas of Shalteng Tehsil of Srinagar.
Vice Chairman, Srinagar Development Authority, Srinagar, Haris Ahmad Handoo was also present on the occasion.
During the Grievance Redressal Camp, Public delegations and scores of individuals projected various issues and demands before the DC particularly the long pending issue arising out of jurisdictional overlap with Budgam district.
The local representatives demanded establishing Fire station in Bemina area, road widening, construction of Bund around Hokersar, replacement of electric poles and wires, augmentation of drainage network system, demarcation of land, operationalization of Imam Hussain Hospital, hassle-free issuance of certificates for eligible beneficiaries under different Social Security schemes and other issues.
After giving patient hearing to the grievances and demands of the public, the DC sought on the spot response from the concerned District Officers present during the Grievance Redressal Camp.
He also assured the people of Shalteng Tehsil that all genuine demands and issues projected by them will be taken up with concerned authorities on priority. He said jurisdictional issues have already been taken up with higher authorities and will be resolved soon.
The DC also gave on the spot directions to the concerned officers for time bound redressal of the public issues.
On the occasion, the DC asked the educated unemployed youth to come forward and take benefit from different Government self-employment schemes to earn a dignified livelihood for themselves and their family.
With regard to the present burning issue of drug menace, the DC said the drug menace is a major threat to the socio-economic structure and it has become imperative for the entire society to come together to uproot this menace and work as a strong entity to make Srinagar a healthy and drugs free District.
The DC said it is a collective responsibility of all the sections of society to join this fight against drug menace and called upon all the stakeholders to extend their cooperation to District Administration with determined efforts and proactive approach to bring the youth of Srinagar out of darkness of drug addiction.
Later, the DC inspected several developmental works including progress of work on construction of Office Complex for the Labour&Employment Department being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 10.0 crore.
On the occasion, the DC directed the concerned to expedite the construction work in the time bound manner.
He also visited Government Polytechnic for Women, Bemina and took stock of the ongoing construction work on the Class cum Workshop building being executed at a cost of Rs 3.71 crore.
The DC also inspected Rs 1.86 crore works undertaken for construction of Quarters for College Staff in the premises of the Polytechnic.
The DC asked the concerned executing agency to accelerate the pace of work and ensure the project is completed by the end of March, 2023.
Meanwhile, the DC accompanied by VC, SDA undertook a visit to Shehjar Apartments, a future living Idea in the City under the concept of cluster housing units developed by Srinagar Development Authority.
The DC inspected various Blocks of the Apartment and was given first hand appraisal about its operationalization.
Joint Director Planning, Mohammad Yaseen Lone, General Manager DIC, Hameeda Akhtar, Programme Officer, ICDS, Zeenat Ara, Chief Medical Office, SDM West, Pimroze Bashir, Tehsildar, Shalteng, Ishfaq Ahmad, Assistant Labour Commissioner, Arshid Qadir, LDM, Abdul Majeed, besides other senior officers and Engineers of the District Administration were present in the Public Grievance Redressal Camp under weekly Block Diwas.
