Police organises Cyber Crime Awareness Day in Awantipora, Pulwama

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday organized ‘Cyber Crime Awareness Day’ cum Cyber Jagruktaprogrammes in Awantipora and Pulwama.
According to a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar here the awareness programmes were organised at SCI Coaching Centre Awantipora, English Training Academy Pampore and IT World Computer Institute Tral. In Sub-division Awantipora, the awareness programme was chaired by SDPO AwantiporaMumtaz Ali Bhatti-JKPS alongwith SHO Awantipora. In Sub-division Pampore, the programme was chaired by SDPO PamporeImtiyaz Ahmad-JKPS alongwith SHO Police Station Pampore and similarly, in Sub-division Tral the programme was chaired by SHO Police Station TralalongwithIncharge Police Post Aripal. The programmes were attended by teachers and students of various institutions.
Similarly in Pulwama, it has organized Cyber Awareness Programmes at Police Station Pulwama, PS Kakapora& PS Litter. The programmes were hosted by concerned Supervisory Police officers and were attended by respectable citizens, youths, and students of concerned areas. The main motive behind conducting such programmes is to provide awareness of cyber frauds among the general public particularly students.
Speaking on this occasion, the chairing officers advised the participants to adopt safe browsing habits to avoid suspicious websites while surfing the internet besides, they were also appealed to not share OTPs or bank account details and passwords and to adopt precautions while conducting internet banking and online transactions. Participants were also cautioned against accepting friend requests from unknown persons or chatting with unknown persons on social media. The participants were briefed about various types of cyber threats/crimes such as identity theft, credit card fraud, data stealing, cyber stalking, OTP frauds, online gaming fraud etc. The participants, according to the above quoted police statement, appreciated the efforts of Police for organising cyber-crime awareness day” programme and making the general public aware about the cyber-crimes.
