CEO JSCL Rahul Yadav reviews progress of Tawi River Front Project

Project executing agencies asked to speed up pace of work

Jammu: Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Jammu Smart City Limited (JSCL) Rahul Yadav on Saturday visited the construction site of Tawi River Front Project and reviewed the progress of the most ambitious project under the Jammu Smart City project.
Additional CEO, JSCL, Hitesh Gupta, Project Director, JSCL, Sunil Thusoo, General Manager Finance, JSCL, AshishAnand and senior officials of JSCL and officials of project executing agency Shree BalajiEngicons Limited were present on the occasion.
CEO, JSCL, Rahul Yadav took on-spot assessment and got first-hand information on status of Tawi River Front Development project, besides other allied works.
He was informed that the construction work is going on the both banks of river Tawi and desired progress has been achieved.
After inspecting the site, Rahul Yadav passed directions to officials and project executing agency to expedite pace of work to complete the project in stipulated time frame.
Asserting that the project was top priority of the government, CEO JSCL said that the completion of the project will play a crucial role in enhancing the aesthetic value of the city of temples as well as business opportunities to the citizens. He also lauded the efforts of workers and extended them new year greetings.
It is pertinent to mention here that the project is being developed on the lines of the Sabarmati riverfront in Gujarat and aims to enhance the aesthetic value of the River Tawi by enhancing natural purifying capabilities, as well as promoting environmental and urban infrastructure sustainability.
The foundation stone of the project was laid by the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, ShriManojSinha.
Under the project, a 3.5 KM (both side) long river front is proposed to be completed in 2 phases. The first phase starts from 4th bridge to Tawi Bridge and phase 2 from Tawi Bridge to Gujjar Nagar Bridge. The pathways would be constructed on both the sides (banks) of the river to provide easy access to the public.
This project also comprises bank protection of River Tawi with broad salient features of construction of diaphragm walls, lower promenade, retaining wall, embankment construction.
