3 -tier Panchayati Raj system accelerated Dev pace in J&K: DDC Chairperson

‘Kathua Distt witnessed Unprecedented Devwith increased allocation to Panchyats”

Kathua: District Development Council Chairman Kathua, Col. Mahan Singh on Wednesday said that the functioning of three-tier Panchayati Raj Institutions has resulted in an unprecedented development in the rural and remote pockets of the district. He was speaking during a programme to mark two years of District Development Council at the Council Office here Wednesday.
Highlighting the achievements of the council, the DDC Chairman said more than 5000 Works/Projects worth Rs 620 Crore were completed in the Year 2021. He said the Government has increased the allocation of funds to augment rural infrastructure with the active participation of PRIs. He said projects worth Rs 2048 Crore have been completed in current fiscal so far which has accelerated the pace of development in the entire Kathua district.
Col Mahan Singh said that numerous projects like National Highways, Road Web in Villages, Amrit Sarovars, 299 water supply schemes under JJM, Rural Development schemes, Handicraft centres, Tourism infrastructure, KVKs, Potato Farms, etc are coming up in different parts of the District which will have great impact on the development profile of the district.
Appreciating the visionary step of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and LG J&K Manoj Sinha to implement 73rd and 74th amendment of Indian Constitution for establishment of 3 Tier Panchayat system in J&K, Col Mahan Singh said the decision have greatly improved the living condition of the people of Jammu Kashmir at the grassroots level.
While appreciating the council members, Col Mahan Singh said the PRIs have been entrusted with the role of people’s guardian and every elected member must ensure inclusive development in their respective areas and fulfillment of the popular aspirations of the people.
Ex -Member Parliament Shamsher Singh Manhas, the Chief Guest along with DDC Chairman Col Mahan Singh, felicitated all 13 DDC Members including vice Chairman Raghunandan Singh with certificates of appreciation.
On the occasion, a plantation drive was also organised by the Horticulture Department whereby all DDC Members and guests planted plant saplings in DDC Complex, Travel Mart Lakhanpur.
On the occasion, a Brochure highlighting DDC achievements was also released. Ex Minister Rajiv Jasrotia, ADDC Kathua, Ankur Mahajan, CPO, ACD, ACP, DPO and media persons were also present.
