Jammu : Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, Advisor to Lt Governor Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar and Chief Secretary Dr A K Mehta in their separate felicitation messages on Saturday greeted the people on the auspicious occasion of Christmas.
In a message, the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha said: “On the joyous occasion of Christmas, I extend my heartiest greetings and best wishes to all and wish everyone a merry Christmas and prosperous New Year”. “Christmas epitomises the spirit of forgiveness and peace. It is an occasion to celebrate and imbibe Jesus Christ’s message of brotherhood, compassion and forgiveness. May the Christmas this year usher in peace, happiness and joy for all,” the Lt Governor said.
In a separate message of greeting the Advisor to Lt Governor Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar said that Christmas is a celebration of Jesus Christ’s teachings of selflessness, tolerance and brotherhood. He added that this festival is an occasion to strengthen the bonds of love and friendship amongst us. The Advisor hoped that this festival would strengthen universal brotherhood and promote unity and social harmony among all sections of society. He also prayed for peace, progress and prosperity of entire Jammu and Kashmir.
In his separate message of greetings the Chief Secretary, Dr Arun Kumar Mehta said the teachings of Jesus Christ are based on compassion and brotherhood and continues to guide human beings towards righteousness.Dr Mehta observed that the message of Jesus Christ is perhaps more relevant today than ever before. He expressed hope that this auspicious occasion would help in further strengthening the bonds of communal harmony, brotherhood, amity, secularism and the traditions of pluralistic ethos for which J&K has been known for centuries.
