Agri Deptt organizes Krishi Vichar Manthan Rabi 2017-18

Jammu: Department of Agriculture Wednesday organized pre-rabi 2017-18 farmer-extension officers’ brain storming session- “Krishi Vichar Manthan” which was presided over by Vice-Chairman, State Advisory Board for the Development of Kisan, Daljit Singh Chib.

Speaking on the occasion, Chib said government is committed to make all out efforts and take the required steps to improve the economic condition of the farmers of the state. He said the feedback and suggestions of the farmers received during the Krishi Vichar Manthan will provide a sound base for framing the roadmap of future development plans and arrangements of agricultural inputs for the coming rabi season.

He asked the farmers to adopt integrated farming and modernize their agricultural practices by using latest technology for achieving the vision of ‘doubling farmer’s income by 2022’. He advised the farmers to organize themselves in farmers Self Help Groups (SHGs), farmers clubs and Farmers Producers Organizations (FPOs) to avail benefits in getting inputs along with marketing facilities for their produce.

He further said farmers can increase their farm income through mushroom cultivation, vegetable production, growing high value cash crops, apiculture to arrange their agriculture based units on entrepreneurial lines.

Director Agriculture, H. K. Razdan said the impact of various technological interventions, varietal trials, use of latest machinery,  application of balanced dose of fertilizers, timely sowing and  intercultural operations has increased current yield of maize and paddy crops.

Ex-Director Agriculture and Member Kisan Board, D. P. Khajuria, President J&K Kisan Council, S. Tejinder Singh, President R.S Pura Basmati Growers Association, Choudhary Dev Raj, progressive farmers and saffron growers from all the districts participated in the program.

Others present in the program included Joint Director of Agriculture (Inputs),  Kulbhushan Singh Sambyal, Joint Director SLUB, Bulesh Zutshi, Joint Director of Agriculture, Jammu S. S. Lakhanpuria, Deputy Director of Agriculture (Trainings), Sunil Koul, and Chief Agriculture Officers of all the districts.
