Theft case in Budgam, 2 accused arrested, Stolen property recovered: Police

Srinagar: Police on Friday said that it has solved a theft case by arresting two accused persons involved in the commission of crime and also recovering the stolen property from their possession.
In a statement issued on Friday Police “Police Station Chadoora on December 18 this year received inputs that three shops at Main Market Chadoora near R&B office (Doobi Complex) belonging to Showkat Ahmed Sonu of Chanapora Srinagar, Mohammad Shaeb Chinga of Natipora Srinagar and Muzamil Ahmed Dar of Ragar Chadoora have been broken open by some unknown thieves using JCB machine and have stolen electronic items, mobile phones accessories etc”.
Stating thata case vide FIR No. 203/2022 under relevant section of laws was registered at Police Station Chadoora and investigation was taken up, Police in it’s above referred statement further said that during the course of investigation, a police team of Police Station Chadoora put strenuous efforts and worked on some leads following which two suspects were brought for questioning from Shopian. “During questioning of the said suspects, they admitted their involvement in the commission of crime”, reads the Police statement, adding that “the accused were subsequently arrested and upon their disclosure stolen property including three Mobile Phones, three Redmi Power Banks, three Smart Watches, one RealMe MP3, one Torch and a stolen JCB was also recovered from their possession”. Police in it’s statement furthermore saif that arrested accused persons have been identified as Mehraj Ahmad Sheikh son of Gulzar Ahmad Sheikh and Ikhlas Bhat son of Bashir Ahmad Bhat both residents of Dashnoo, Hirpora Shopian.
“Investigation also revealed that the JCB machine used for commission of crime belonged to one Basharat Ahmed Yatoo son of Haji Noor Mohammad Yatoo R/O Chadoora which was stolen by accused persons during intervening night of 17th and 18th December”, reads the concluding para of the statement, adding that “During further investigation, it surfaced that one accused namely Ikhlas Bhat was working as Helper with the owner of the JCB machine and he had kept hidden one spare key of JCB Machine and further investigation into the matter is going on.
