Uri (Baramulla): First of its Kind One Day International Workshop on Mathematics was on Thursday organised by Govt Boys Higher Secondary School Uri in collaboration with the Dept of Science and Technology Srinagar.
The program was organised to celebrate National Mathematics Day to commemorate Srinivasa Ramanujan, the Great Indian Mathematician. The program was attended by Scholars from various countries including Bangladesh, Poland, India and Pakistan. The program was inaugurated by Sub Judge Uri Mr Altaf Hussain Khan. Other dignitaries who were present on the occasion include Mushtaq Sopori Principal BHSS Uri, Ghulam Jeelani Principal HSS Salamabad, Zonal Education Officer Uri Shah Mohammad, ZEPO Bonyar Abdul Karim, Lecturer Mathematics GHSS Uri Manzoor Ahmad Chalkoo, Masters, Teachers from Zone Uri and Teaching Faculty of BHSS Uri. The program started with the recitation of the Holy Quran and Naat. Inaugural speech was delivered by Dr Khalid Nazir Lecturer Mathematics BHSS Uri and Welcome address was given by Principal BHSS Uri Mushtaq Sopori. Dr Sayooj Aby Jose , Dr Jahid Hasan from Bangladesh, Dr Javid Naikoo from University of Warsaw Poland and Dr Aaloka Kanhere presented their papers and discussed in detail the application of mathematics in daily life. A large number of students from various schools of Zone Uri also attended the program and various students delivered their speeches. A quiz competition was also held in which four teams from different schools took part. Dr Khalid Nazir Lecturer Mathematics BHSS Uri also presented his lecture during the event. An award ceremony was also held at the end of the event attended by Altaf Hussain Khan Sub Judge Uri, Principal BHSS Uri Mushtaq Sopori, Ghulam Jeelani Principal HSS Salamabad,Zonal Education Officer Uri Shah Mohammad in which the toppers from each category viz Models, Speeches and Charts were awarded First , Second and Third Prize. Dr Khalid Nazir Lecturer Mathematics BHSS Uri was also awarded for his exemplary performance throughout the academic year and for organizing this event for Popularization of Mathematics. All the guests and dignitaries hailed the efforts of Principal BHSS Uri Mushtaq Sopori for organizing these types of events for the students.
