DC Pulwama inaugurates Good Governance Week (SushasanSaptah) celebration in distt

Pulwama: In connection with the celebration of ‘Good Governance Week’ being observed on Tuesday across the district titled ‘PrashasanGaon Ki Aur’ under the theme ‘Sarkar Har Shehri Kay Dwar’, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pulwama, Baseer-ul-Haq Choudhary Tuesday visited village Payer and inaugurated the programme.
ADDC Pulwama Dr Sheikh Abdul Aziz, General Manager DIC, Tehsildar Pulwama, Officers of Education, Rural Development Department, Agriculture, Horticulture other concerned functionaries besides beneficiaries at large were present at the inaugural program.
At the outset, the DC inspected stalls installed by various departments to sensitize people with regard to the service and schemes being provided by the government.
On the occasion, the DC handed over Golden Cards among various beneficiaries under PMJAY-Sehat.
Addressing the gathering, the DC said that “Good Governance Week” provides us an opportunity to march rapidly to create a transparent and efficient Public Delivery System and to further improve governance. He directed the officers to adopt Good Governance Practices and an improvised Public Delivery System so that the government’s commitment towards providing transparent, effective and accountable governance to the people is ensured.
Choudhary said the ultimate litmus test of good governance is that its benefits should reach the remotest citizen living in the remotest areas of the district.
The DC informed the public that during the weeklong event, all District officers and officials will visit Tehsil/Panchayat Headquarters in the district to provide timely grievance redressal and improve service delivery so that people are benefited at grassroots level.
Choudhary further said that during the week-long celebration, campaigns against various initiatives including Corruption, Drug Abuse will be intensified across the district besides various activities will be carried out for improving the digital services in the district.
While appreciating the innovative initiatives taken by various departments in different sectors to streamline and improvise the Governance to benefit the common people, the DC lauded the efforts of Education, Health and other such departments which worked tirelessly in the public service.
Choudhary further emphasised upon all district officers to set examples by focusing on what good can be done for the welfare and benefit of people at grass-roots level.
Meanwhile, a series of activities were Tuesday held across the whole District Pulwama with special focus on disposal of public grievances and apprising citizens about various Government welfare schemes and public services.
Awareness programmes were held on the directions of the Deputy Commissioner at Litter, Tokuna, Kakpora, Hariparigam and other locations by Agriculture, Handicrafts and other Departments.
The Revenue department sensitized the public about online services for viewing their land records and other revenue documents.
In addition, Special awareness camps for unemployed youth were also organised to aware educated unemployed youth about various Government employment generation schemes for their handholding.
