Srinagar/Aug,30: Locals disrupted a cordon-and-search operation (CASO) in Khos Mohalla and Wahab Parrey Mohalla localities of Hajin in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Wednesday.
An official said that as soon as the operation was launched in the area, people came out of their houses and pelted the forces with stones, thereby disrupting the operation.
He said that forces responded by firing several tear smoke shells, triggering clashes which lasted for some time.
Army’ 13 RR unit, SOG of Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF had jointly laid CASO in Khos Mohalla and Wahab Parrey Mohalla localities after inputs about presence of militants in the area around 5 am.
“The operation was called off around 7:30 am,” said the official.
