A kashmiri Pandit Sanjay Kumar, who resides in village Fathapora in District Anantnag is serving as Patwari in department of Revenue from last twenty years. I met him in mid of September 2012 in Tehsil Office Doru in District Anantnag and he was serving as patwari halqa Mundah in the same Tehsil. After few days we were dispatched for demarcation of hindu property in Hakhroo Badasgam. On reaching the spot along with other members of the team headed by Naib Tehdildar and seeing the site. I thought it is an impossible job for the team and a furile exercise. But the concerned patwari handed over the Aksi Latta and the patwar Scale (pymana) to none other than Sanjay Kumar and the demarcation got started. After one and a half busy hour, i found the portion of the land of the hindu applicant got demarcated and i felt a sign of relief including our team head and he commented. These words “king ji kay bageer yai na mumkin tha”. That time I came to know that “king Ji” is the nike name of SanjayKumar. There after I worked with him for three years and found that he is the person who did justice with his profession. He knows every bit of Revenue language and is the master of Revenue laws. I observed that he has grasped the revenue laws as per their original definition. Whenever it became necessary for the Revenue authorities to constitute team for demarcations Sanjay kumar’s name was definitely figuring in the orders and often he is called in Tehsil office for completing “Sarkari Tameel” and to prepare different officials statements related with Revenue department. Any one can visit the Tehsil offices of Anantnag district and will find a famous Revenue department’s statement known as “Goshwara Jinaswar” prepared none other than King Ji. He is very popular in public domain. The villages where he has served as patwari, people remember him yet and often give his example whether there is demarcation, or preparing of Revenue extracts or mutations etc. Really in today’s fast- moving world and tough competitive day-to-day life, he is the rich heritage of Revenue department. This unsung hero is a renowned and known person among people from every walk of life. The aim of recreating and bringing forth story of this hero, which lay as faded memory of the past, shall serve as a medium of inspiration and encouragement for the coming people who will serve in the Revenue department. His work is a development to the entire Revenue department. He gives justice to the people in many ways. His contribution regarding writing of new Jamabandies, there after digitalization and quality check is a big contribution.
He lives a simple life and mixes with muslim brotherhood as their family member. He made it sure that his colleagues do exceptional works of different natures. He has done immense services to people from all walks of life. He deserves to be called a “hero”.
Once we both were serving in Tehsil Qazigund and we both were assigned the demarcation of the land acquired by Grid Station Damjan. On reaching the spot on the first day of the assignment this author came to learn that the land has been acquired few years back and Grid Station was functional at that time. There were no original boundaries of survey numbers intact. I thought it is not possible to demarcate the land as per survey number wise. As we were ordered to measure the spot as per survey number acquired. Suddenly King Ji had a glimpse on my face and found few drops of water on my forehead. He told me why you are so worried, it is an easy task and within three days we got success and demarcated the land survey number wise. The thought came in my mind that Sir Lawrance was the master of settlement, but this person “king Ji” is really the King of Revenue department. It is said that there is no bigger joy than helping others in distressed times. He has done a recognizable work during covid-19. He used a megaphone to encourage his fellows and community to get vaccinated. Whether the times are good or bad, he is trying to help those in need. Currently he is serving in halqa Anzwulla inTehsil Anantnag and the people of this village on seeing his dedication have urged the District administration to facilitate him with a reward. Really he is deserving this. Department should recommend him for the award at UT level. His dedication towards the work is an example for all the employees of his and other departments . Really King Ji is a king of Revenue department.
