DM directs strict compliance of Govt regulations for scientific disposal of solid waste

Kupwara : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Doifode Sagar Dattatray on Tuesday convened a meeting of the District Environment Committee to review the implementation of the District Environment Plan in Kupwara.

The DC took a detailed review of the District Environment Plan which includes Solid Waste Management Plan, Water Quality Management Plan, Domestic Sewage Management, Industrial Waste Water Management, Air Quality Management, Mining Activity Management and Noise Pollution Management plans.

The DC directed all the concerned officers to ensure strict compliance of the Government regulations regarding scientific disposal of solid waste.

He also directed all Executive Officers of Municipalities to ensure submission of Solid Waste Management Plans within a week’s time besides ensuring no waste is dumped in the town areas.

The DC directed the EO Handwara to identify state land for scientific disposal of the solid waste.

He also directed the District Pollution Controlling Officer to regularly evaluate the implementation of solid waste management in the district, and conduct capacity building programmes for awareness of the stakeholders regarding scientific disposal of the waste.

The DC directed the EOs of Municipalities to increase the door to door garbage collection.

It was given out in the meeting that the meeting regarding review of Solid Waste Management shall be held every week.

ACR Kupwara, ACP, DMO, FM-DIC, EO MC Handwara, EO Langate, PCB Officer and other concerned attended the meeting.
