Sarita Chauhan visits Samba MC under MTMP 2.0

Sanction letters distributed under MUMKIN, Golden Cards, PMAY-U, PMSVA Nidhi, City Dev Plans for ULB including Traffic Free plan finalized

Samba : As part of ambitious ‘My Town My Pride’ (MTMP) 2.0 programme of taking governance to doorsteps of urban populace, Commissioner Secretary, Labour and Employment, SaritaChauhanon Wednesday visited district Samba and interacted with ULB Councilors including President and locals.

Commissioner Secretary, who is also visiting officer to the district, interacted with social activists and citizens besides traders’ federations and market associations who apprised her of various issues and development needs seeking her intervention in timely redressal.

Commissioner Secretary was accompanied by President MC Samba, PawanKohli, Vice President, MC Samba, RajniSambyal besides other Councilors and ward members.

Deputy Commissioner Samba, Anuradha Gupta, Director General, Social Welfare. Vivek Sharma, ADC, RakeshDubey, ASP SurinderChoudhary,  CPO, EO Municipality Samba besides other district officers were also present.

During the interaction, the locals raised several issues including availability of building materials, dearth of staff in district hospital and women College, new bus routes, beautification of town, street lights on Hospital road, road widening besides augmentation of electricity and water infrastructure in Samba, town.

SaritaChauhan, while speaking on the occasion, said that to make our towns, cities smarter in terms of  modern mobility plan, encroachment free areas, sustainable tourism besides incorporating green and beautification city plans public participation is of utmost importance. She said under ‘My Town My Pride’ the administration is reaching out to last person for ensuring holistic development of our urban areas. “Various initiatives like good governance index, digital j&k, public services through online portals,  stress on self employment Skill development, special focus on youths engagement has been taken up to connect with public in a more transparent and effective manner” added Chauhan.

On the occasion, Commissioner Secretary distributed sanction letters under self employment schemes like Mumkin through JK Bank and also provided certificates to beneficiaries of PMAY-U as ‘GrehParvesh’ and PMSvaNidhiYojana, besides blankets, baby kits, sports kits and other benefits were also distributed among the beneficiaries.

Commissioner Secretary laid foundation stone for Upgradation of existing Municipal Complex Samba with an estimated cost of Rs 500.0 lakh. The upgradation will include creation of parking facility at ground floor, an auditorium at first floor and office complex at 2nd floor of building.

During the event, various line departments put up stalls to generate awareness and register beneficiaries under various government sponsored schemes including Aadhar registration and other digital services. Visiting officer inspected stalls of agriculture, horticulture, education, revenue department, social welfare, handicraft handloom, ICDS, IT department and others. She laid emphasis on ensuring 100% saturation of beneficiaries under the schemes through dedicated outreach among public.

On the occasion, Commissioner Secretary also inspected the ongoing repair work on Samba Fort being undertaken at an estimated cost of 114.83 lakh.

The executing agency informed that repair work of Samba Fort included complete renovation of Samba Fort, disposal of debris and mulba, provision of electrification, sanitary and water supply besides other minor works.

Commissioner Secretary directed the concerned to adhere to the set timelines of the project while maintaining the heritage outlook.

During the programme, special nukkadnatak creating awareness on NashaMukt Bharat Abhiyan conducted to sensitise locals and students on ill effects of drug abuse.

Commissioner Secretary interacted with calico printing artists and laid emphasis on training these artisans at regular intervals so that they can act as catalyst and encourage other artisans of the area for availing benefits under departmental schemes for self employment.

Later, the visiting officer took a tour of Samba town and inspected Government Girls High school Samba, anganwadi centres and District hospital.
