Srinagar : Chairman J&K People’s Democratic Front (JKPDF) and Former Minister has Hakeem MohdYaseenon Wednesday has expressed serious concern over the worsening power crisis all over the Kashmir valley . He said power supply crisis was more grim inKhag ,Kachdoor , Gujarpatti , Sitharan ,Sourish and kokerbag areas of Beerwa in central districBudgam ,where power supply has been snapped since last two months by the PDD.
In statement issued here on Wednesday,Hakeem said while expressing his concern over the prevailing power crisis in Kashmir valley ,said that common people were shivering in record subzero temperatures and have been forced to live in dark nights due to non-availability of electricity. He said power cricis was even worst in kandi and rural areas of KhagBeerwa especially in Khag ,Kachdoor , Gujarpatti , Sitharan ,Sourish and kokerbag ,where total electricity supply has been snapped since last two months . He has urged the government not to stop power supply to the people for nonpayment of power bills as the financial position of farming community was pathetic due to heavy losses to the fruit crop invarious fruit markets of the country this year. Yaseen in his above referred statement said that instead of outrightly snapping power supply, farmers especially in BPL category should be given some breathing period to pay their outstanding power bills till their financial condition improves to some extent next crop season . He said farmers and fruit traders were not in a position to pay even their bank loans due to heavy losses to their fruit crop this year.
