My Town My Pride: VOs inspect Devt’l works at MC Handwara, MC Langate

Kupwara :  The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Doifode Sagar Dattatray on Tuesday visited Municipal Committees of Handwara and Langate to participate in the concluding functions of ‘My Town My Pride’ programme.

The visiting officer for Handwara MC, Mission Director Dairy Development, Narender Singh Bali and visiting officer MC Langate, Special Secretary Education Department, Naseer Ahmad Wani were present in their respective Municipalities. SP Handwara, SheemaNabi; Presidents of Municipal Committee Handwara, MasroorBanday and Shahnawaz Abdullah were also present, besides, officers, councilors, senior citizens, traders, transporters etc.

At Handwara, the Deputy Commissioner and Visiting Officer, Mission Director inspected the stalls established by various departments at Town Hall Handwara. They interacted with the stall holders and enquired about the services being provided. They also interacted with various public delegations and heard their issues.

Addressing the function at Town Hall Handwara, the DC and Mission Director highlighted the aim of holding the ambitious My Town My Pride programme during which people living in towns were provided mass awareness about different government welfare schemes and sanitation drives were held to beautify the towns.

The DC said that during the week-long Jan Abhiyan various activities relating to beautification, sanitation and awareness were held in all the 3 towns of the Kupwara district.

Later, the dignitaries visited Girls Higher Secondary School Handwara and BHSS Handwara during which the students presented cultural variety programmes. They inaugurated the Library at BHSS Handwara.  They appreciated the students for performing the cultural programmes.

The dignitaries inaugurated the Botanical Garden and Sports Hall at GHSS Handwara.

Earlier, the Visiting Officer inaugurated the Marriage Hall in Handwara town in presence of President MC and EO. He also inspected the Dairy Milk Unit at Handwara and one Private Dairy Farm in the town. On the occasion, he asked Manager JK Bank to provide financial assistance to the farmer so that he can upgrade his business. He also inaugurated the Public Park BrariporaHandwara.

At Langate, the DC participated in the My Town My Pride function and inspected the stalls and appreciated the stall holders for good performance.

On the occasion, the DC said that the My Town My Pride programme has generated good results at ground level and urged upon the people to follow the message of this ambitious programme and keep their surroundings and towns neat and clean.

Meanwhile, the Visiting Officer for Langate MC inaugurated the Mega Project under BADP at a cost of Rs.486.85 lakh in presence of President MC and concerned officers.  He also presided over the function of MTMP at Town Hall Langate.
