Bandipora : On second and concluding day of ambitious ‘My Town My Pride’ (MTMP-2.0) programme, Bandipora on Tuesday witnessed multifarious activities with overwhelming public response especially youth participation.

Secretary Tourism and Youth Services and Sports, Sarmad Hafeez, accompanied by Deputy Commissioner, Bandipora, Dr.Owais Ahmed, Director Employment, Nisar Ahmad Wani and Director Urban Local Bodies, Mathoora Masoom participated in MTMP-2.0 grand celebrations organized at Nishat Park, Bandipora.

The day witnessed varied activities including sports events, awareness programmes, cultural items and related events.

Sarmad Hafeez, while addressing the gathering, said that this ambitious MTMP programme will immensely help towards ensuring enhanced development of urban parts of the J&K. He stressed on collaborative efforts of public, elected representatives and administration for overall development of these areas. He urged upon all the departments to make intensive awareness regarding various online services available with different departments.

Sarmad Hafeez stressed on effective implementation of different government schemes at grassroots level to benefit the last beneficiary in the urban areas. He emphasized on 100% adhaar seeding for availing benefits of different government schemes. He also stressed on community participation for maintaining cleanliness throughout the district.

Sarmad Hafeez also deliberated on ill effects of drug abuse and appealed youth to stay away from this social evil and get engaged in sports and development activities.

He discussed modalities for Master plans meant for towns and took feedback from concerned regarding the needs and aspirations of people.

Sarmad Hafeez, while inspecting stalls established by different departments, distributed E-shram Cards, Golden cards, sanction letters, sports kits and appreciation letters among the beneficiaries under various individual beneficiary schemes.

Sarmad Hafeez also had an interactive session with Councilors of MC, youth, senior citizens, sports persons besides general public.

While responding to issues raised by the Councilors, Secretary said all the issues will be resolved in a time bound manner.

The civil society members raised the issue of Bandipora-lolab road, bypass for Bandipora and Women’s Degree College for Bandipora.

The delegation of sports persons led by PadmaShri, Faisal Ali Dar, demanded construction of indoor stadium, youth hostel and Mountaineering Institute for Bandipora.

Secretary also listened to issues of general public and assured fast track redressal of the same. He asked the officers to redress the genuine public grievances on priority.

The day also witnessed cleanliness drives and plantation drives at different locations of the town.

The event at Nishat Park were also attended by MC President Basharat Hussain, ADC Bandipora, Waseem Raja, Joint Director Planning, Imtiyaz Ahmad, EO MC Bandipora, Wali Mohammad, students, youth, senior citizens and other concerned.
