Edu, Health Institutions organise host of activities to observe World AIDS Day

Jammu: Educational and Health Institutions on Thursday organised a series of awareness activities to observe World AIDS Day.
GZSM Degree College Reasi: To observe World AIDS Day, Government General Zorawar Singh Memorial Degree College Reasi, under the leadership of Principal, Dr. KulvinderKour and in collaboration with Chief Medical Officer and District Hospital Reasiorganised an awareness program on AIDS.
Program started with a welcome address by College Faculty, Dr. Rajinder Kumar. Mahima, a student of 5th semester was the first speaker of the day who spoke on the issue of making college going students aware about the prevention of AIDS.
Dr. Meenali Rajput, from District Hospital Reasi, who was the guest of honour and second speaker of the day, said that there was a need to equip people, including youth with a deep knowledge about the AIDS disease for its better prevention.
Dr. Bilal Ahmed Wani, from District Hospital Reasi, was the Chief Guest and last speaker of the day who made students aware about the interventions required to move towards a nation with zero AIDS.

GMC Doda:
Government Medical College(GMC) Doda organised an awareness program here in the First Year Lecture Hall, Government Nursing College.
The speakers elaborated on this year’s World AIDS Day Theme “Equalize:-Putting ourselves to the test Achieving Equity to End HIV”.
The aim of the program was to create awareness among the nursing students about prevention, management and control of HIV and AIDS.
Principal Govt. Medical College Doda, Dr. Noor Ali delivered a highly motivating speech.
The program was organized by Government Nursing College Doda, the event was coordinated by Dr. SumanBala Nursing Coordinator GNC Doda and all the faculty members.
A Rangoli Competition, Poster making and Reel making competitions were organised among the students of B.Sc (Nursing 1st year). The winners and participants of the quiz were given Medals.

GDC Ramgarh:
Government Degree College Ramgarh organized an Inter-semester Poster Making competition to mark World Aids Day-2022.
The event was held under the guidance and Coordination of the College Principal, Prof. (Dr.) SatinderKaur and in collaboration with Jammu & Kashmir Aids Control Society, Department of Health & Medical Education, J&K Government and Higher Education Department, J&K.
Students from different semesters of the college participated with great enthusiasm in the competition. Alisha Menia of B.A. Semester First Stood First, Ansh of B.A. Semester-I bagged second position whereas AnujPangotra, B.A. Semester-clinched the third position.

GDC Ramban:
Red Ribbon Club of the Government Degree College, Ramban organized an awareness event to observe World AIDS Day under the patronage of Principal, Prof. SubhashChander Sharma.
On the occasion, the Convener of Red Ribbon Club, Prof Younis Ahmed Rather highlighted the statistics of HIV and AIDS infection cases in the nation and around the globe. The topic was covered in depth by Prof. BalKrishan, Head of the Zoology department.
Meanwhile, the speakers provided information on risk groups and the method of HIV transmission to prevent infection and sickness, they emphasized the importance of adopting healthy lifestyle choices and getting tested for HIV.

Govt. Hospital Gandhi Nagar:
Government Hospital Gandhi Nagar Jammu observed World AIDS Day by organizing an educative Session in the conference hall of the hospital. Dr. Saleem-Ur-Rehman, DG, FW, MCH & Immunization & Director Health Services, Jammu was the Chief Guest. In his welcome address, Dr. ParveenYograj, Medical Superintendent, highlighted the Theme of “World AIDS Day-2022-EQUALIZE”, which emphasizes eliminating the inequalities that have slowed the fight against the diseases.A Power Point Presentation on World AIDS Day & Disease was presented by Dr. SachinGokhale, 3rd Year DNB Medicine Resident giving details of the HIV disease, modes of spread, investigations & treatment. Dr. PoonamManyal, Medical officer & in-charge STI section of the hospital delivered a brief awareness address on the World AIDS Day & discussed the theme of the event in detail. A poster making competition titled “World AIDS Day” was held & more than 50 students of various ANMT Schools participated. The best three winners of the competition were felicitated & awarded prizes. As a unique feature, 05 Staff Nurses of Labour Room were felicitated as “Labour Room Warriors” for smooth conduct of normal vaginal deliveries as a promotion & discouraging Caesarian sections. In his address, Dr. Saleem-Ur-Rehman said that the Day provides an opportunity for the people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, to show support for the people living with HIV & to commemorate those who have died from AIDS related illness. He also stressed that rising incidence of Hepatitis-C & B is a matter of concern & these diseases should also be addressed on the bigger platform.
CHC Katra:
In collaboration with Shri Mata Vaishno Devi College of Nursing (SMVDCON) and Tehsil Legal Services Committee, Community Health Centre (CHC) Katra observed World AIDS day under the guidance of Dr. GopalDutt, Block Medical Officer, on the theme Rock the ribbon.
Awareness lectures were delivered by Dr. Virender Singh Consultant Paed, Dr. Kavita Sharma and Consultant Physician. The function was attended by members of Tehsil legal services committee Katra. The strategy laid down by W.H.O and National A.I.D.S trust regarding H.I.V treatment, testing and prevention was discussed in detail. A pledge was taken to secure the rights of people living with H.I.V and fighting H.I.V stigma and discrimination.
During the programme, students of SMVDCON, under the leadership of JasreenKour, presented a beautiful NukkarNatak regarding prevention and treatment of A.I.D.S.
The function was attended by a large number of visitors, patients and Officers/Officials of CHC Katra.

District Hospital Kishtwar:
An awareness programme on “World HIV AIDS Day” at District Hospital Kishtwar in collaboration with the Department of Health and Family Welfare.
In the said Programme Advocate NaveedKhursheedDev (Deputy LADC) was the Resource Person and in the programme DrJaveedaBanoo (Medical Superintendent) and DrPandita also educated the participants about the spread of AIDS and measures to control and eradicate from the country.
The Programme was also addressed by the students of nursing college. The Programme highlighted the theme of the World AIDS Day Year 2022 as to ensure the eradiction of AIDS from Country without discriminating any person who is infected with HIV treating them equally as other citizens of the Country maintaing their confidentiality.The participants were also informed regarding the schemes of the Government and free treatment available to the infected persons.TheProgramme was attended by 170 participants, comprising of doctors, para-medics staffs visiting patients and students of the nursing college.
DLSA, District Hospital Kishtwar:
District Legal Service Authority Kishtwarorganised an awareness programme on “World HIV AIDS Day” at District Hospital in collaboration with the Department of Health and Family Welfare.
In the said Programme, Advocate NaveedKhursheedDev (Deputy LADC) was the Resource Person.

Government Polytechnic Jammu: Red
Ribbon Club of Government Polytechnic Jammu, in collaboration with J&K State AIDS Control society organized a Poster making competition to commemorate the Worlds AIDS Day.
More than 50 students participated in the poster making competition with great zeal and enthusiasm and expressed their thoughts through posters.
Er. ArunBangotra, Principal Govt. Polytechnic Jammu interacted with the students and educated them regarding how to combat the disease. The theme of the competition was Equalize: Achieving equality to end HIV.
Taniya Nanda 3rd semester Mechanical Engineering bagged first prize, Rajeshwar Singh of Architecture Assistantship got second prize and ManveenKour 3rd semester Mechanical Engineering got third prize.

GDC Neeli Nallah:
Government Degree College Neeli Nallah observed World Aids Day under the guidance of the Principal Prof Hans Raj.
A series of activities including poetry recitation, poster making and Slogan writing competitions were held.
The student gave information about AIDS and its origin through posters and slogans. Dr. Radha Rani was the convenor of the programme.
Prof. Swati Dutt, Prof. Shaista Yasmeen and Manisha Kanchru were the members of the organising Committee. Dr. Imtyaz Bhatti, Dr.Renu Gupta, Dr.Ranjeeta Langeh, Dr. Parul Chib, Riya Bajral, Pallavi Sharma were also present in the programme.
