Srinagar : Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested a drug peddler in Baramulla and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar here Police said that a police party led by SHO Police Station Kunzer under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg Hilal Khaliq during routine patrolling in village Hardshura Kunzer intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehend tactfully and identified as Farooq Ahmad Mir S/o GhulamMohi-ud-Din Mir R/o ZasporaTangmarg.
Stating that during searches 18 sticks of Charas like substance wrapped in maize peelings weighing about 500grms and cash amount of ₹6000/- concealed in a polythene bag were recovered from the possession of the above named drug peddler following which he was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody, Stating therein further that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kunzer and investigation has been also set into motion.
In the concluding para of the above quoted statement Police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood and resolved that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
