Jammu : Mayor Jammu, Rajinder Sharma on Tuesday kickstarted sanitation cum awareness drive across Jammu city iconic places as a part of My Town My pride.
Speaking on the occasion, the Mayor said that JMC is providing sanitation in the entire city and putting every possible effort to provide upto mark sanitation in its area of jurisdiction and the aim of launching this mega sanitation drive from iconic places is to spread message of public involvement in sanitation. Responsible and responsive public are the key allies in the city sanitation, added Mayor.
The Mayor started sanitation drive at BaweWali Mata whereas Deputy Mayor Baldev Singh Billawaria started the drive at Mubarak Mandi Complex. At Har Ki Pauri the sanitation drive the started by Chairman’s of various Standing Committees.
Mayor said a multi-pronged approach by all is what ensured all-round cleanliness in the city. He further added that we will generate awareness among people about different aspects of cleanliness and convince them about the importance of source segregation.
The main reason for sustainability is the awareness among the public to segregate. If the quality of segregation is good, automatically garbage quality also improve and private players come in, the Mayor further added.
