Dr Samoon inaugurates mega Job fair; 5000 candidates registered

25-Multi National, National, local companies participate

Jammu :  Principal Secretary, Skill Development Department (SDD), Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon, on Friday inaugurated mega Job fair organised by Skill Development Department in collaboration with Desh Bhagat University (DBU), Mandi Gobindgarh Punjab at Government Polytechnic Bikram Chowk, Jammu.

About 5000 candidates registered themselves through online and offline mode while around 25 reputed Multi-National, National and Local companies and Industries participated to hire the candidates.

Director, SDD, Sudershan Kumar, was the guest of honour on the occasion while Leena Padha, Mission Director, Skill Development Mission, Ramesh Chander, ADDC Jammu, Arun Bangotra, Principal, Government Polytechnic Jammu, Dr.Sandeep Singh, President, Desh Bhagat University, Dr. Harsh Sadawarti, Vice President, Desh Bhagat University and Principals of various Government Polytechnics and ITI’s  of Jammu and Kashmir were also present.

Dr Samoon lauded the efforts of the Government Polytechnic Jammu administration for conducting this Job fair. He highlighted various challenges a student faces in seeking job and encouraged them to convert these challenges into fruitful opportunities by continuous hard work and dedication. He further said that this job fair will adopt an integrated approach in addressing the employment and employability issues by making jobs available to the candidates according to their potential and educational qualification. Samoon added that amid high unemployment, employers face challenges filling the technical and skilled jobs and such job fairs can help to overcome this talent paradox.

Later, Dr Samoon inaugurated CIIIT Hostel Block constructed by PWD. Speaking on the occasion, Director Skill development, briefed about various aspects of skill development department and the latest updates in terms of skill add-on courses being offered by the department along with three-year diploma courses. He said that the job fair will be the platform for students to meet their future sponsors.

Principal of the college briefed about various industries and companies participating in the event. He added that this job fair has been organized with an endeavour to provide employment opportunities to the aspirants in 25 renowned multinational, national and local companies such as BYJU’s, Vertex, Ocean Engineering, Just Dial, HDFC, Collagedekho.com, Zonix Soft, Rodiex Service Pvt. Ltd, ICICI Bank, CADD Desk, ESS ESS Global, OYO, Eclerx, Tele Performance, Taskus, Time Pro etc. Speaking on the occasion, Vice President DBU lauded the efforts of Dr.Asgar Hassan Samoon for initiating such kind of measures where the students can nurture their skills.

Other present on the occasion were Principals of Women Polytechnic Jammu, Government Polytechnic Reasi, Government Polytechnic Poonch, Government Polytechnic Samba, Government Polytechnic Ramban besides Principal ITI Jammu, Superintendent ITI R.S. Pura and staff and students of the college.
