Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has booked 5 drug peddlers under Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act in Kulgam
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters, Srinagar Police said that five drug peddlers have been booked under preventive detention after obtaining sanctions from the competent authorities, Stating therein further that the booked drug peddlers include Gulzar Ahmad Sheikh S/o Asadullah Sheikh R/o Ahmadabad DH Pora, Tariq Ahmad Lone S/o Mohd Ramzan Lone R/o Tungdunoo Yaripora, Sajad Ahmad Baghat S/o Ghulam Hassan Baghat R/o Kokergund Yaripora, Barkatullah Mir S/o Mohammad Abdullah Mir R/o Bachroo Kulgam and Aijaz Ahmad Ganie S/o Late Ghulam Ahmad Ganie R/o Gadihama, Kulgam.
The police in it’s above referred statement also said that Gulzar Ahmad Sheikh, Tariq Ahmad Lone and Sajad Ahmad Bhat have been lodged in District Jail Baderwah while Barkatullah Mir and Aijaz Ahmad Ganie have been lodged in District Jail Rajouri to prevent them from recycling again in Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances.
In the concluding para of the above quoted statement Police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood and reiterated that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
