Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it arrested a drug peddler in Ganderbal and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar, Police said that a Police Party led by incharge Police Post Shadipora under the supervision of Dy SP Hqrs apprehended one person during patrolling at Wakura and during searches recovered 1Kg of Cannabis Powder (Bhang) from his possession.
Stating that the said accused has been identified as Nazir Ahmad Rather @Kanwar S/o Gh Mohi Ud Din Rather R/o Ganai Mohalla Wakura, Police in it’s above referred statement further said that the said peddler has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Police in it’s statement also said that the accused person had previously been booked under three NDPS cases, 2 in PS Ganderbal and 1 in PS Kheerbawani and a case vide FIR No. 316/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Ganderbal and investigation has been taken up.
In a concluding para of the above referred statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood and reiterated that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
