B2V-4: DC Ang visits several panchayats; takes stock of activities

Anantnag :  The third phase of B2V4 program concluded on Thursday in 110 Panchayathalqas of Anantnag.

On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, DrBasharatQayoom visited several panchayats and took stock of the activities being conducted as part of B2V4 and interacted with participants.

The DC toured Batkoot,  Khiram, Kanelwan, Akad and Ganeshpora areas covering Khoveripora, Dachnipora and Pahalgam CD Blocks and visited various public institutions including Govt Higher SceondaryKhiram, Govt High School Ganeshpora, Govt Higher Secondary Batkoot and PanchayatGhar at Akad.

He inaugurated the newly constructed compost pit at Kanelwan. He also distributed land passbooks among various beneficiaries. A cultural programme was also presented at Batkoot.

Speaking to the people, Dr Basharat said that the B2V4 programme will allow the people to shape the development plan in their areas. He said that people must take overall development into consideration when framing plans as per the requirement and priority of the Panchayat.

He said that focus should be on ensuring welfare of all Gram Sabha members. He said that the visiting officer has been nominated as the mentor of the Panchayat for a period of one year and people can regularly take up issues regarding plan framing and implementation with the visiting officer as well as turn to him / her for guidance on prioritizing works.

He said that the step will inculcate accountability in execution of development plans and ensure that people’s wishes are followed in letter and spirit.

Several people also shared the issues in their Panchayats with the DC.

The DC said that the feedback from visiting officers has been encouraging. He said that the focus has been on GPDP formulation and in productive engagement of youth in various self employment schemes.

He said that awareness regarding Nasha Mukht Abhiyan, online G2C services by the Government as well as regarding various public schemes has been a highlight of the program and will have far reaching effects in ensuring effective delivery of services.

The DC was accompanied by ACD Anantnag, concerned BDOs, Tehsildar Pahalgam, Tehsildar Bijbehara among others.
