Srinagar : Police on Monday claimed to have arrested a drug peddler in Srinagar and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters, Srinagar, Police said that on a specific information, ANTF Kashmir (a specialized unit of J&K Police to check the rising menace of narcotic drugs) arrested drug peddler and identified as Mohammad Shafi resident of Shopian from District Srinagar, Stating therein further that heroin worth lacs was recovered from the possession of above named peddler who has been shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that a case vide FIR No. 03/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station ANTF Kashmir and further investigation has been initiated, Police in it’s statement further said Preliminary investigation reveals that the accused person was going to sell the contraband in and around District Srinagar.
In the concluding para of it’s statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood and reiterated that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
