Rashtriya Ekta Diwas: Police organised ‘Run for Unity’ across Kashmir Divn

Srinagar : On the eve ‘Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ Police on Monday organized a series of ‘Run for Unity’ events across the Kashmir valley.

According to a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters, Srinagar, in Baramulla, the “Run for Unity” was flagged off from Fruit Mandi Kanispora by DIG NKR Baramulla Udaya Bhaskar Billa along with DIG SHQ BSF Baramulla Rajesh Kumar. On the occasion, I/C SSP Baramulla RK Parihar, Chairman MC BaramullaTawseefRaina& other officers of Police, CRPF (53Bn) and BSF were also present. The event of 3Kms long run culminated at Prof. Showkat Ali Stadium Khawaja Bagh Baramulla in which more than 400 participants including students from GDC Baramulla, civil society members, security forces personnel with full zeal and enthusiasm.

Speaking on this occasion, DIG NKR Baramulla thanked the participants for their participation and highlighted the importance of this day and recalled the contribution of SardarVallabhai Patel in the unification of India.

Similarly, in Awantipora, “Run for Unity” was flagged off from AabgharTral   by SP DAR Awantipora wherein 250 youth of different age groups from different areas of Awantipora participated and culminated at Hurdumir Crossing. On the conclusion ceremony, cash rewards, medals were distributed among the first three winners of the event and consolation prizes were given to the participants who secured positions upto 15th rank and refreshment was served to all the participants. Besides, a cultural programme was also organized at Police Lines Awantipora in which students of various school & artists participated. At the outset of the programme one minute silence was observed to remember the courage and valour of our brave martyrs who have laid their lives for the unity and integrity of the Nation as well as in protecting the life and property of the people. On closing ceremony, SSP Awantipora along with ADC Awantipora distributed Cash reward and medals.

In Pulwama, a Marathon Run “Run for Unity” was organized in which Police, CAPF, Students and Local youths of Pulwama participated. The marathon started at DPL Pulwama and culminated at District Administrative Complex Office Pulwama. On the conclusion of the event, mementos and cash prizes were awarded among the 1st, 2nd & 3rd position holders respectively. Speaking on the occasion, the Police officers thanked all the participants for their active participation and also highlighted the importance of this day and recalled the contribution of SardarVallabhai Patel in the unification of India.

In Budgam, Police organised a run “Run for Unity” which was flagged off by ASP Budgam Gowhar Ahmed. The event was organised to foster the spirit of unity and integrity of the nation among the participants and others. The event started at 0900 hrs from Railway Station Budgam and culminated at District Police Headquarters Budgam covering a distance of about 2Kms.  More than 200 participants including students and local youth of different age group participated in the event with keen enthusiasm.

During the closing ceremony at District Police Headquarters Budgam, SSP Budgam Tahir Saleem, flanked by galaxy of officers distributed cash rewards, mementos and certificates among the winners and participants. Besides, administered Rashtriya Ekta pledge to all the participants. SSP Budgam, during closing remarks expressed his gratitude towards the participants for joining the event and making it successful. He also threw light upon the personality of Sardar Vallabhai Patel on his 147th birthday.

In Sopore, Police organised ‘Run for Unity’ which started from Railway crossing to Seer Crossing in which students from various schools participated in the event with keen enthusiasm.  The position holders were awarded by Shabir Nawab, SSP Sopore.

In Bandipora, Police organised  ‘Run For Unity’ Marathon flagged off by DySP DAR Bandipora along with DYSP PC Bandipora wherein more than 600 students of different age groups of district Bandipora participated in three categories viz, Senior, Junior and Girls. The event started from Pazalpora Bandipora and culminated at SK Stadium Bandipora. The event was followed by prize distribution ceremony and the winners who secured positions upto 6th rank were awarded cash rewards and appreciation certificates and refreshment was also served to all the participants.

In Kulgam, “Run for unity” started from DPL Kulgam& culminated at Sangus, Kulgam in which various students of school participated. Speaking on the occasion, SSP Kulgam addressed the participants & highlighted the importance of this day & emphasized that we must strengthen the Unity, Integrity, Sovereignty & Spirit of brotherhood.

In Shopian, a series of events were organized which include a Marathon Run “Run for Unity” wherein athletes & local youth of Shopian participated, an essay & quiz competition programme at DPL Shopian, besides the final of Cricket Tournament at District Sports Stadium Shopian. On the conclusion of the events, Mementos and cash prizes were also disturbed among the 1st, 2nd & 3rd position holders respectively. While speaking on the occasion, the officers thanked all the participants for participation and also highlighted the importance of this day and recalled the contribution of Sardar Vallabhai Patel in unification of India.
