Bandipora : In order to make the functioning of National Helpline for senior citizens (Elder Line 14567) more smooth and effective in the district, a meeting of Officers and stakeholders was on Friday held at DC Office, here.
The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad chaired the meeting which marked the participation of ADDC Bandipora, SDM Sumbal, Ex. Engineer R&B, ACD, DSWO, Project Manager Elder line besides other officers.
During the meeting, stakeholders were sensitized about their role and responsibilities by the State Programme Manager, Elder line and Field Response officer.
It was informed that the senior citizens can call the helpline on toll free number 14567 daily from 8am to 8pm in case of need of assistance.
Moreover, the issues faced by the elderly citizens and mechanism in place for their prompt redressal was also discussed threadbare.
HelpAge India Team conducted meeting with district administration Bandipora with the objective to brief the participants about the Elder-line, its functioning and performance.
The DC stressed on all stakeholders to play an active role for the smooth functioning of Elder-line. He said that the Helpline for senior citizens “Elder-line” is meant to provide information, guidance and emotional support to our senior citizens.
DrOwais directed officers of the departments particularly District Social Welfare Officer to provide best possible services to the senior citizens who are one of the most vulnerable sections of the society.
All stakeholders assured full support for smooth functioning of the Elder-line.
