Kishtwar : With an aim to build disaster resilience at the grassroots level through the Panchayats and establish a framework to align the disaster management measures in rural areas Tuesday an Orientation cum Training programme regarding Rural Development & Disaster Management was organised by District Administration Kishtwar headed by Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Dr Devansh Yadav for Sarpanches here at conference Hall DC office Kishtwar.
The workshop was chaired by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) DrDevanshYadav, who is also the chairman of the District Disaster Management Committee.
ADDC, Sham Lal; ACP, ZakirHussainWani; ACD, AtulDutt Sharma; DPO, Sunil Bhutyal; ExEn REW Farooq Ahmed, besides Sarpanches and SDRF personnel attended the workshop.
At the outset, ACP gave a PPT presentation regarding PRI’s roles and responsibilities as per PR Act 1989.
During the workshop, the SDRF personnel imparted hands-on training about the utilisation of the “Disaster management Kits” to be issued by RDD to each gram Panchayat and also educated them about the safety measures taken to tackle the disaster like situation in rural areas.
Pertinent to mention, that the Kit contains 31 rescue items which have been provided to each GP with an aim to tackle any eventuality or disaster.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Kishtwar exhorted the PRIs to fully acquaint themselves with the safety measures besides learn how to best use the Disaster Management Kits being issued to each Panchayat during the time of any exigency.
He stressed them to work in collective and collaborative manner with the SDRF and other stakeholders to combat any eventuality if arisen in rural areas.
ADDC Kishtwar also spoke on the occasion and stressed for making up the judicious utilisation of these “Panchayat Disaster Kits” to build quick and responsive disaster resilience at the grassroots level among the Panchayats.
During the workshop various suggestions were also received from the Sarpanches regarding the effective management and area specific challenges and way forward to tackle these challenges.
Meanwhile, Sarpanches also highlighted the issues of Rural Development including the early start of the left out works projected under Area Development Plan, MGNREGA and Back to village program.
The ADDC assured them that the suggestion will be incorporated in the District Disaster management plan besides assured for the immediate resolution of their issues pertaining to Rural Development.
Later, ACP Kishtwar thanked all the Sarpanches who participated in the programme and made it a grand success.
