Spl Summary Revision: Sheetal visits polling stations of Kathua to oversee ongoing up-dation of electoral rolls

Kathua :  Commissioner Secretary, Social Welfare, Sheetal Nanda, who is also designated as Observer for Electoral Rolls for Kathua district, on Saturday conducted extensive tour of Polling Stations of Kathua to oversee the ongoing Special Summary Revision exercise.

At Government Girls Higher Secondary School Kathua, the Observer enquired about the pace of updation of electoral roll from the concerned Booth Level Officers. She called for making the exercise inclusive by enrolling all the eligible voters besides making necessary updation including deletion and correction of particulars of voters.

Sheetal Nanda laid emphasis on ensuring seeding of Adhaar numbers with all new eligible voters besides making the revised electoral rolls free form discrepancies and error free.

Later, the Observer visited the GHS Logate, GHSS Sallan, GDC Hiranagar and GHSS Kootah and attended special camps being organized as part of Special Summary Revision in all the designated Polling stations of the district.

District Election Officer, Kathua, Rahul Pandey, informed that the Special Summary Revision is going on in full swing in the district besides SVEEP activities are being organized to aware the masses about their right to franchise.

Pertinently, the Special Summary Revision- 2022 is going on across all the districts of JK from 15 September to 25 October, 2022 wherein Booth Level Officers along with supervisors are going door to door besides holding special camps at respective polling stations on every Saturday and Sunday falling in from 15 September to 25 October 2022.

Earlier, Commissioner Secretary kick started Jan Abhiyan activities of Kathua district by flagging off a rally as part of BetiJanamahotsav at Government Girls Higher Secondary School Kathua. She also gave away Nutritional and Baby kits among the beneficiaries.

Similar programme was held at GDC Hiranagar where Commissioner Secretary gave away Nutritional and Baby kits among the beneficiaries of BetiBachaoBetiPadhao beneficiaries.

While speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Secretary said the Department of Social Welfare is making efforts towards welfare and empowerment of women besides running advocacy campaigns to encourage birth of girl child so as to achieve healthy Child Sex Ratio in entire JK.

Worthwhile to mention here that administration has rolled out Jan Abhiyan; a preparatory phase for 4th edition of ‘Back To Village programme’ which will focus  on youth skills, self-employment, good governance and Panchayati Raj along with NashaMukt and RozgarYukt Jammu and Kashmir.

Project Officer ICDS, District Social Welfare Officer and other concerned officers were present on the occasion.
