Kishtwar : The teams of Animals Husbandry Department Kishtwar led by Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Dr. Sanjay Kumar Sen conducted a Lumpy Skin Vaccination drive for stray and migratory cattle.
Besides, awareness about Lumpy Skin Disease was also imparted to the Livestock owners and nomads. The program was conducted as a preventive measure in wake of Lumpy Skin Disease. In evening hours a team of Animal Husbandry led by CAHO Kishtwar along with MVO Kishtwar intercepted a group of local migratory cattle, they were stationed at Chowgan Ground Kishtwar and in the day following morning hours they were vaccinated and were allowed to move towards their destination.
Pertinent to mention here that the Animal Husbandry Department Kishtwar is working day and night, leaving no stone unturned to contain the spread of viral disease among cattles in the district.
CAHO Kishtwar directed the vaccination teams to vaccinate all animals within Kishtwar Municipality and authorities of Municipal Council Kishtwar have been asked to identify a suitable place for Animal Pool wherein the stray animals may be quarantined so that the chances of spread of disease may be curtailed.
Further Rapid Response Teams have been constituted (under Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) which are well equipped with logistics and emergency medicines for timely and on the spot treatment of sick and injured animals’ especially stray ones.
Moreover all Lumpy Skin Disease suspected cattle are being provided medicine free of cost and Door to Door vaccination campaign for vaccination of all cattle is going on in full swing in the entire Kishtwar District.
