Budgam : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, S F Hamid on Monday chaired atraining cum orientation Workshop for all the Sarpanches of Budgam.

In the meeting an overall presentation was given by Zahida, Assistant Commissioner PanchayatsBudgam. She apprised the chair about the Sanitation plan prepared by PRIs for cleanliness of their respective Panchayats.

A detailed discussion was held in the meeting regarding SBM-G 2.0.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that the aim of this programme is 100 percent clean villages. He said to make villages clean is the responsibility of Public representatives and this initiative is to be taken by whole village people for their own benefit and added that there is full support of administration in this endeavour.

DC said that every village needs to be self-sufficient so that policy implementation is 100 percent.

In the meeting, DC passed directions that there should be a complete ban on dumping of waste on roadways, river beds, streams and on every public place. Fine will be imposed on the persons throwing waste on roadways, river beds and public places. He said that all the roadways will be clean in the coming days.

The DC said the villages that show good performance will be awarded and given incentives. He said complete awareness should be given to people of Panchayathalqas regarding sanitation and its long term benefits.

Further interaction was held between PRIs and overall discussion revolved around problems faced by them in day to day working of their panchayats. DC assured all the public representatives that District Administration is keen and committed in resolving their every issue and is always available for their overall development.

Besides, ADDC, ACP, DIO, BDOs and panchayat secretaries of all panchayathalqas were present in the meeting.
