Srinagar : The ANTF Kashmir on Monday said that it has arrested three drug peddlers and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters, the ANTF Kashmir (a specialized unit to check rising menace of drugs)said that under the supervision of SSP ANTF J&K commercial quantity of one quintal and 93Kgs of Poppy Straw was recovered in two back-to-back operations from three accused persons identified as Satnam Singh, Shiv Kumar both residents of Ludhiana Punjab and Arif Rashid Bhat R/O Yaripora of District Anantnag. Stating that vehicles used in the commission of crime have also been seized, the ANTF Kashmir in it’s statement further said “Preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested drug peddlers were going to sell the same contraband among the youth and other drug peddlers in and outside J&K”, Stating therein further that police has registered a case under relevant sections of law at Police Station ANTF Kashmir and investigation has been initiated.
In the concluding para of the above referred statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood and reiterated that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
