District Admin Srinagar organises Health camp for nomads at remote area of Lidwas

Medical Team led by BMO Hazratbal treks reaches out to the people in Highland pastures

SRINAGAR: On the directions of the Deputy Commissioner of Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad, the Department of Community Medicine, Government Medical College, Srinagar conducted a first of its kind two-day health promotion camp at Lidwas area, which is 17 kilometers moderately tough trek from Dara, Harwan under Hazratbal Medical Block in the outskirts of Srinagar District.

During the two-day health outreach camp led by Block Medical Officer, Hazratbal, Dr. Fara Shafi around 150 patients were given prophylactic and therapeutic treatment, for Antenatal, Geriatric care, Neonatal, Pediatric, Mental Health & Menstrual Hygiene.

Medical and Health Services were provided to tribal nomads and residents in camps located at Padcha Pal, Mynar, Darwen, Chanwen, Bokchem, Tipatri and Lidwas grassland. Both prophylactic and therapeutic treatment was provided to patients enroute and at Lidwas camp.

Pertinently, this outreach health camp was announced by the Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar in a public Darbar held recently at Murinderbagh in order to reach out the population in difficult areas to provide Medical facilities.

The medical team included Dr. S. Muhammad Salim Khan (HOD), Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Pandit, Dr. Inamul Haque, Dr. Wasim Raza, Dr. Kausar Siddique, Dr. Rifat Jan, Dr. Sahila Nabi, Dr. Khalid Bashir. , Dr. Abdul Rauf, Dr. Abdul Hamid, Dr. Iqra Nisar, Dr. Labib, Dr. Furqana, Ishtiaq Ahmed, Technical Assistant along with Dr. Mudasir Majid, Harun Nazir, Firoz Ahmad, Abdul Rashid Lone, Abdul Rashid Fomda made all the necessary arrangements.

The organizers expressed their gratitude to the Department of Tourism for providing logistical support.

Meanwhile the local community, appreciated the efforts of District Administration Srinagar, GMC Srinagar and BMO Hazratbal for such a people friendly health initiative.

Meanwhile, the DC has asked for conducting such mega health camps regularly in different areas to provide healthcare at the doorstep of the residents.
