Ramban : Animal Husbandry Department Ramban has vaccinated 15000 cattle in the 16 designated epicenters of the Lumpy Skin Disease to immunize them against the deadly disease in the district.
The Department has demanded additional 15000- 20000 doses of the vaccine within a week from the concerned authorities.
As per the Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Ramban, Dr.Bharat Bhushan Raina a total of 233 suspected Lumpy Skin Disease cases have been reported by the 200 farmers so far from different places of the district out of which 124 have recovered after proper treatment.
The CAHO has already constituted Rapid Response Teams in all 11 blocks of the district including Ramban, Batote, Rajgarh, Ramsoo, Ukhral, Khari, Banihal, Gandhri, Sangaldan, Gundi-Dharam, and Gool to deal with the emergency situation and control Lumpy Skin Disease by providing immediate services to the farmers.
The RR teams have also collected 31 samples from infected animals to diagnose the disease and as of now, only 109 active cases are under treatment in the district, while the death of 3 affected animals was also reported in the district.
The Animal Husbandry Department has also conducted various IEC events across the district to sensitize the farmers about Lumpy Skin Disease.
