My Youth My Pride: Khelo India Centre lifts Kathua Hockey Championship

Jammu :   The gymnastic event being held in Multipurpose Indoor Sports Hall, Reasi entered the 2nd day. More than 150 gymnasts participated in the competitions held for different categories on Saturday. A large gathering witnessed the fun-filled activities all day.

Councillor Reasi, Amit Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion, while the corporator, Ashok Bali presided over the function as the Guest of honor.

Amit Sharma, while speaking to participants, assured his full support to sports and sportspersons from the area.

Other officials present on the occasion included Nalish Kumar, – manager, and in charge manager Dalbir Kumar, besides other officials from YSS.

Meanwhile, a Judo competition was organized in the Judo hall of M.A. Stadium Jammu. More than 300 Judokas participated in the event in different categories. The chief guest on the occasion was former deputy chief minister of J&K, Kavinder Gupta. The chief guest spoke at a breadth with the participants and asked them to stay at a safe distance from the evil of drug addiction and other antisocial activities.

Others present on this occasion included Ashok Singh, Sports Officer Jammu; Suraj Prakash, General Secretary Judo Association and Satish Gupta, Manager Indoor Sports Complex along with coaches and officials.

In Gurah Salathia, Samba, cricket matches continued for the second day in a row. The match played between Baba Hasal Dev Cricket Club and Gurah Youth Club was in progress when the report last came in.

Sarpanch, Jitender Singh of Lower Gurah Salathia presided over the function as the chief guest. He was accompanied by S.P Singh Manager, M.A Stadium; Arshi Nad, Judo Coach; Gurcharan Singh, Athletics Coach and other staff members of the Sports Council. A large number of spectators were present at the venue.

In the ongoing volleyball championship in Rajouri, the first match of the day was played between Baba Club Rajouri and KIC Rajouri. KIC won the match by 2:1.

The second match scheduled between Ahsan Club and Darhal Club was in progress when the report was being filed. People in large numbers witnessed both the matches being organized by the Sports Council under the special sports Initiative My Youth My Pride.

A Volleyball tournament is also being played in Ramnagar, Udhampur under the same initiative. Mool Raj, DDC member Ramnagar, was the chief guest on the occasion, while Som Raj Gupta, former international badminton player and ex-Sports Council member was the guest of honor. More than 80 players from across the district are participating in the event.

Meanwhile, an athletic championship was organized in Sports Stadium Kathua. The event was inaugurated by Rahul Dev, Municipal Councillor, while Sandeep Singh, national athletics medallist  was the guest of honor.

Both the guests encouraged athletes to work hard and perform well in the future to stay away from the drug menace and other anti-social activities.

More than 300 athletes participated in the event.

Meanwhile, the final match of the hockey tournament being played in Kathua was won by Khelo India Centre Kathua by 3 goals. They defeated their opponents Army Public School Janglote by playing aggressive and dominating hockey.

More My Youth My Pride activities are scheduled to be organized across J&K.
