ADGP Armed J&K reviews arrangements for Cycle Race “Pedal for Peace” to be conducted in Srinagar today

Srinagar : S.J.M Gillani ADGP J&K Armed Police chaired a meeting today to review the arrangements made for the Cycle Race “Pedal for Peace” – 2022 to be organized by J&K Police under Civic Action Programme today on September 23.

According to a statement issued from J&K Armed Police Headquarters the meeting was attended by members of officers/ officials of Police department and Sports Associations connected with the event. Kuldeep Handoo-DySP (Sports) briefed the ADGP about all the arrangements and preparations, route plan Traffic/ Security arrangements made for the event. On the occasion ADGP issued some instructions significant for successful conduct of the event.

Addressing the meeting the ADGP said that Jammu & Kashmir police has rescheduled, Cycle Race “Pedal for Peace” – 2022 for September 23, 2022 and also enhanced the prize money for the winners from ₹3.86 Lakhs to ₹5.13 Lakhs. He said that on the conclusion of Cycle Race and Prize distribution ceremony, a Raffle draw of Chest Nos of the participants is also being conducted in which 1st prize, a bicycle worth ₹25,000/-, 2nd prize a bicycle worth ₹16,000/- and 3rd prize a bicycle worth ₹15,000/- have been earmarked for the first three prize winners of the Raffle Draw. He said that the Cyclists who have got themselves registered for participation in the Cycle Race “Pedal for Peace” – 2022 shall have to assemble at Lalit Ghat Boulevard Road Srinagar (The venue of Flag-off ceremony) at 0500 hours on September 23, 2022 (Friday) for the scrutiny and collection of Chest Nos.

The ADGP said that the Cycle Race “Pedal for Peace” was earlier scheduled to be conducted on September 11, 2022 (Sunday) but it was postponed due to administrative reasons and has now been re-scheduled to be conducted tomorrow on September 23, 2022 at the same venue and time. As per the re-scheduled programme, the Cycle Race shall be flagged off on September 23, 2022 (Friday) at 0630 hours by S.J.M Gillani ADGP Armed J&K from Lalit Ghat Boulevard Road, Srinagar and flag-in ceremony will be graced by Dilbag Singh DGP J&K at 10 a.m on the same day at Police Golf Course Boulevard Road, Srinagar where a prize distribution ceremony followed by Raffle Draw of Chest Nos. shall also take place. The DGP J&K will present prizes to the winners.

As per the category wise timing/ route plan for race chalked out for the registered participants of the Cycle race “Pedal for Peace” – 2022 organized by J&K Police under CAP, Senior (Men) above 17 Years (ATB) Professional Cyclists (41 Kms category) shall be flagged-off at 0630 hours at Police Golf Course towards Ganderbal (Nagbal Chowk) and back; Senior (Men) above 17 Years (MTB) Cyclists (28 Kms category) shall be flagged-off at 0635 hours at Police Golf Course towards Harvan Garden and back; Open (Girls) (MTB) Cyclists (24 Kms category) shall be flagged-off at Police Golf Course at 0640 hours towards Habbak Crossing and back; Jr. Boys (U/17 Years) (MTB) Cyclists (27 Kms category) shall be flagged-off at Police Golf Course at 0645 hours towards Kashmir University Crossing and back; Sub-Junior (Boys) U/14 Years (MTB) Cyclists (19 Kms category) shall be flagged-off at Police Golf Course at 0650 hours towards Shalimar Garden and back; Sub-Junior (Girls) U/14 Years (MTB) Cyclists (13 Kms category) shall be flagged-off at Police Golf Course at 0655 hours towards Nishat Garden and back; Veteran Cyclists (21 Kms category) shall be flagged-off from Police Golf Course at 0700 hours towards Duck Park and back.

As per the enhanced scale of prize money earmarked for the winners, the first 5 position holders in Senior (Men) above 17 years (ATB) professional Cyclist (41 Kms race category) shall get ₹50,000/-, ₹30,000/-, ₹25,000/-, ₹15,000/- and ₹10,000/- respectively whereas the next 5 position holders in the said category shall get ₹2000/- each; In senior (Men) above 17 years (MTB) Cyclist category (28 Kms race) the first 5 position holders shall get ₹30,000/-, ₹25,000/-, ₹20,000/-, ₹15,000/- and ₹10,000/- respectively whereas the next 5 position holders in the said category shall get prize of ₹2000/- each; In open Girls (MTB) Cyclist (24 Kms race) category the first 5 position holders shall get cash prize of ₹30,000/-, ₹25,000/-, ₹20,000/- ₹15,000/- and ₹10,000/- respectively whereas next 5 position holders in the said category shall get ₹2000/- each; In Jr. Boys U/17 Years (MTB) Cyclist (27 Kms race) category the first 5 position holders shall get prize of ₹20,000/-, ₹15,000/-, ₹10,000/-, ₹5000/-, ₹3000/- respectively whereas the next 5 position holders shall get ₹1000/- each; In Sub-Junior (Boys) U/14 Years (MTB) Cyclist (19 Kms race) the first 5 position holders shall get a prize of ₹15,000/-, ₹10,000/-, ₹5000,/- ₹3000/-, ₹2000/- respectively whereas the next 5 position holders in the said category shall get prize of ₹1000/- each;

Similarly in Sub-junior (Girls) U/14 years (MTB) Cyclist (13 Kms race) the first 5 position holders shall get a prize of ₹15,000/-, ₹10,000/-, ₹5000,/- ₹3000/-, ₹2000/- respectively whereas the next 5 position holders in the said category shall get prize of ₹1000/- each; In the veteran Cyclist category (21 Kms race) the first 5 position holders shall get a prize money of ₹5000/-, ₹4000/-, ₹3000/-, ₹2000/- and ₹1000/- respectively.
