CNO Jal Shakti Abhiyan chairs officers meet

Progress made under Jal Shakti Abhiyan reviewed in Kulgam

Kulgam:  To review implementation and progress made under Jal Shakti Abhiyan and to intensify water conservation mission, Central Nodal Officer  Jal Shakti Abhiyan for Kulgam, Pankaj Srivastava Director Ministry of Defense who is on three days visit to Kulgam on Monday on the first day of his visit  chaired a meeting of officers at mini-secretariat, here.

The CNO Jal Shakti Abhiyan reviewed progress of the district under Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain programme.

The chair through the powerful point presentation was informed that 205 water bodies in 273 villages were identified and restored.

With regard to regeneration and development of AmritSarovars, the chair was informed that district has developed and rejuvenated 239 Amritsarovars in the district and development of more AmritSarovars is in progress.

While reviewing  measures and steps taken for water conservation and  rain water harvesting, the chair was informed that 25 check Dams, 6523 water harvesting tanks, 8642 recharge pits,1302 irrigation chanals have been developed/Constructed in the district.

PankajSrivastava  said that water conservation has become critical which demands individual as well as collective efforts of conservation.

The meeting was attended by, ADDC, ADC, JD-Planning, ACD, ExenJal Shakti KulgamQazigung, BDOs, AEES and other officers.

Later the Central Nodal Officer Jal Shakti Abhiyan visited Jal Shakti Kendra  and took stock of functioning of the Jal Shakti Kendra at Kulgam.

He said that under Catch the Rain initiative, Jal Shakti Kendras will be established in every district and these Jal Shakti Kendra centres will disseminate information related to Water conservation besides providing technical guidance to people for water conservation.

He also visited KrishiVigyan  KendraPombayKulgam and reviewed  awareness and benefits made towards farmers for effective  outputs after conserving water.
