DC office Srinagar accords affectionate farewell to Dr Lone

Srinagar: A farewell program in honor of the out-going deputy commissioner, Srinagar Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone, was held in DC office conference hall, Monday.

Additional Deputy Commissioners of Srinagar, VC LAWDA, VC SDA, Commissioner SMC, SSP Police, SSP Traffic, Engineers from PDD, R&B, PHE, SDMs, Naib tehsidhars, Patwaris, DC office staff and other officers were present on the occasion.

First valedictory function was held in the DC office chamber where new Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Syed Abid Rashid Shah took over the charge from out-going Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone.

On the occasion, out-going DC, Dr. Farooq Ahmad Lone expressed his thanks and gratitude to the gathering for showing their respect and love by honouring him with their physical presence on the occasion. Sharing his experiences during his tenure, Dr Lone said from two and a half years the district administration staff had supported him with dedication and full zeal. In 2014, floods everyone in the office worked round the clock with close coordination with other departments for the rescue and relief work for inhabitants of District Srinagar.

He also added that he had a wonderful experience working together with the administrative officers and also acknowledged the team spirit of his staff. He thanked the staff of DC office Srinagar for full support during challenging situations.

The outgoing DC Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone solicited the same cooperation, support and understanding towards the incoming DC, Dr Syed Abid Rashid Shah and further assured to extend any information, clarification or guidance if required in course of the functioning in days to come.

The incoming Deputy Commissioner, Dr Syed Abid Rashid Shah in his speech said he was honored to take over as deputy commissioner of the historic, prestigious and the capital city of the State. He also extended his heartfelt thanks to the outgoing DC Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone.

“Lone sahib is like my elder brother and he had already told me that one day I will replace his chair. I will make sure to follow his foot-prints for the betterment of District Srinagar” he said.

Dr Shah further said, “I expect from District Administration staff to show dedication, honesty, and integrity and solve the problems of people on priority basis.”

Others, who also spoke on the occasion included, ADC Srinagar Purnima Mittal, SDM Srinagar Syed Hanief Balkhi, District Informatics Officer, SSP Imtiyaz Ali and Representatives of Patwar & Naib Tehsildhar Associations.

Additional Deputy Commissioners of Srinagar presented shawls to Dr. Farooq Ahmad Lone and Dr Syed Abid Rashid Shah.
