Ganderbal :The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir on Thursday chaired a meeting of concerned officers to discuss Solid Waste Management (SWM) plan in Ganderbal town.
During the meeting threadbare discussion was held on the proposal for establishing a Solid Waste Management plant in the district for scientific disposal of waste generated in the town.
Thorough discussion was also held on the management plan including transportation of solid waste, primary collection points, route map, plan for garbage collection, segregation, composition of waste and IEC campaign.
EO Municipal Council Ganderbal informed that sufficient vehicles/hoppers are currently available which suffice the 100 percent door to door waste collection in all wards of town besides hand drive carts are also procured.
The meeting was informed that land has been identified at Hakeem Gund for the establishment of SWM Plant to ensure 100 percent disposal of solid waste scientifically generated in town.
The DC directed the members of Project management Unit SWM to prepare a holistic proposal for Solid Waste Management plant ensuring brief study on primary collection points, composition of waste, route map, transportation plan so that planning is done accordingly.
The meeting was attended by ADDC Ganderbal, Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani, EO Municipal Council Ganderbal, NaveedAjaz besides members from Project Management Unit SWM Directorate of Urban Local Bodies.
