Jammu : NSS Units of Padma Padma Sachdev Government PG College for Women Gandhinagar, on Wednesday organised a one day “Awareness Programme on Civil Defence” on the College campus .
As many as 65 NSS Volunteers participated in this event.
Prof. Mala Bhasin , NSS , PO formally welcomed the College Principal, Prof. MinuMahajan , Anita Pawar , Deputy Controller, Civil Defence Jammu and other team members.
Anita Pawar highlighted the main objective of civil defence and made NSS Volunteers understand the climate change which is resulting in many natural disasters with increasing frequency. She said the changed socio-economic and political scenario has resulted into new emerging challenges to internal security threats. She gave tips to the volunteers about how to protect themselves by either evacuating the area or prefer to take shelter at the same place in case of a disaster. She also made them understand how to avoid hazards and what emergency services can be used during this period.
The College Principal, Prof. MinuMahajan, congratulated NSS P.O Prof. Mala Bhasin and Dr. Monika Hans for organising the event and also motivated the students to never miss to participate in such events.
