Awareness Prog on Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, Child Rights held in Kishtwar

Kishtwar : District Child Protection Unit Kishtwar (DCPU) under Mission Vatsalya, in collaboration with Department of Social Welfare, hosted an awareness programme at Madrasa Madi-Na-TulUloom to sensitize the children and faculty members about the NashaMukt Bharat Abhiyan here on Thursday.

The event was held on the directions of Deputy Commissioner, Dr. DevanshYadav and under the supervision of District Social Welfare Officer (incharge of District Child Protection Officer), Zubair Ahmed.

The students were also imparted awareness about Children rights.  They were informed about Children’s right to survival, identity, food, nutrition and health, development, education and recreation, name and nationality, family and familiar environment, protection from neglect, maltreatment, misuse, abuse, trafficking, bad and good touch etc.

Protection officer-NIC (Mission VatsalyaKishtwar), TouseefIqbal Butt explained the aim and objectives of  NashaMukht Bharat Abhiyan launched by the government of India, including the eradication of  Drugs. He said that it has become necessary to prevent the younger generation from falling prey to the menace of drugs. He said that the directionless youngsters take to drugs as a shortcut for success.

He also emphasized that the government has set up a constitutional body like the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights in order to guard, encourage and protect the child in India.

“Children should get  good schooling, joy, happiness and learning”, he said.      Meanwhile, Superintendent ,Social Welfare,  Shanawaz Ahmed said that the teachers and other members of the society should develop the habit of objecting to the youngsters on drugs and create awareness in the society on its ill effects.

The youth were advised to take part in constructive activities like sports and choose life not drugs.

In the end, the participants took a pledge  to promote NashaMukht Bharat Abhiyan to eradicate drug menace.
