BIS JKBO conducts sensitization prog for Distt Heads of Deptts at Ramban

Ramban :  To promote Quality consciousness and awareness among officers and the general public, a sensitization program was organized by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Jammu and Kashmir Branch Office (JKBO) here on Thursday at Conference Hall of District Administrative Complex, Ramban.

The programme was chaired by Additional District Development Commissioner, Ramban   Rajendra Sharma, CPO, KasturiLal   ACP, Legal Metrology Ramban,  DFOs, Executive Engineers of PWD, JPDCL, PMGSY, CEO, CMO CHO DSWO ARTO AD Food,  and other district and sectoral officers of the district.

Speaking on the occasion, Joint Director BIS, JKBO PankajAtri, gave a detailed presentation on Standards Formulation, Product Certification, Hallmarking and Compulsory Registration Scheme. He demonstrated the Know Your Standards portal of Manakonline through which standards can be easily located and downloaded free of cost. He also demonstrated the BIS Care App through examples to check authenticity of ISI marked products and Hallmarked jewellery and complaints can also be registered.

He highlighted various initiatives of the BIS in bringing quality products to the customers. He said that the aim and objective of the programme is to inform the Heads of Departments in the District about the Quality checks of the standard products and laws to control the substandard products in the market. He also gave awareness to the gathering about ISI and Hallmark.

It is pertinent to mention here that BIS was initially known as Indian Standard Institution and got renamed as Bureau of Indian Standards in Year 1986.

ADDC Ramban, Rajendra Sharma said that such awareness programmes must be conducted in public also so that consumers of the district should get benefitted from the regulations and services provided by BIS.

He also urged the officers to spread the awareness among masses during public outreach programs.

Later, the ADDC also administered the NashaMukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhyian pledge to all the officers present on the occasion.

The program was coordinated by Standard Promotion Officer, BIS JKBO Ashish Kumar Dwivedi.
