Kishtwar : Subedar Chain Singh inaugurated a state of art 10 Meters Indoor Shooting Range of Olympic standard, here at Dool in Kishtwar here on Wednesday.
The Range is constructed by 17 RR (MARATHA LI) to identify the talent and train them for state and national level shooting competitions promoting the ‘Khelo India’ mission. This is the first of its kind shooting facility in the Kishtwar district which is open to enthusiast students interested in learning shooting.
The ace shooter inaugurated the range in the presence of NCC cadets of Kishtwar. Subedar Chain is a Pride of Jammu & Kashmir and has participated in Olympics in the year 2016 and has won several International medals, the recent being the Silver Medal at World Shooting Championship at Munich.
The range is named after Major SushilAima, Kirti Chakra (Posthumous) who made a supreme sacrifice while combating terrorists in Poonch Sector in 1999.
Following the inauguration, a firing competition was organised for NCC Cadets of Kishtwar, which witnessed 80 participants battle it out for overall best firer.
Subedar Chain Singh, in his talk, motivated the youth to take up sports as a profession and bring glory to the nation.
