LG Sinha’s Zero tolerance against irregularity in Recruitments

Scrapping the controversial recruitment processes conducted by J&K Services Selection Board (J&K SSB) in recent months for appointments in police and few other departments of J&K Government in response to allegations of irregularities shows Lt Governor’s zero tolerance against any kind of irregularity in any recruitment process undertaken by any recruiting agency of the J&K Government. While the previous popular governments of erstwhile Jammu & Kashmir state used to pay no heed to the allegations of irregularities in any recruitment process for any post from either the candidates or the civil society groups and opposition leaders, the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha has not only scrapped the recruitment processes on allegations of irregularities but has also referred the matters to CBI for thorough probe obviously for the purposes of punishment to guilty. While the previous popular governments of erstwhile Jammu & Kashmir state have a bad track record of appointing people through backdoor without conduct of any formal selection procedure for several key posts and allowing irregularities in selection process to allow nepotism and corruption , the incumbent Government under the leadership of Lt Governor Manoj Sinha has firmly acted against the alleged irregularities in the selection processes conducted in recent months by J&K Services Selection Board (J&K SSB). What matters the most is the fact that officers and officials under whose supervision the said selection processes were conducted amid charges of irregularities have been removed from the positions they were holding in J&K Services Selection Board (J&K SSB) for the purposes of transparency in the rescheduled recruitment processes to be initiated by a new team at J&K SSB.

Scrapping the previous recruitment processes and immediate announcement of the new schedule for the scrapped recruitment process is a historical decision taken for the first time by any government in Jammu & Kashmir and decision has surely sent out a message of zero tolerance against any kind of irregularity in any recruitment under the present dispensation led by Lt Governor Manoj Sinha.

Given the seriousness and sensitivities Lt Governor Manoj Sinha has shown on charges of irregularities in the conduct of certain recruitment process it is expected that actions of the government against the guilty after the completion of investigation by Central Bureau Of Investigation (CBI) will restore the faith of unemployed youth in the transparency of recruitment processes conducted by the two main recruiting agencies of the J&K Government particularly J&K Services Selection Board (J&K SSB) and J&K Public Services. Bigger satisfaction for the candidates is the immediate announcement of the new schedule for the scrapped recruitment processes for both the police and civil posts under command of new officers transferred to J&K Services Selection Board (J&K SSB) recently.
