Police organizes awareness rally on drug abuse, illicit trafficking in Pulwama

Srinagar : Police in Pulwama on Thursday in collaboration with District Administration Pulwama organized a rally under the banner of “NashaMukt Bharat” campaign which started from Govt. Degree College Boys Pulwama and culminated at District Administrative Complex  Pulwama.

According to the statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters, Srinagar, DC Pulwama Baseer Ul HaqChoudary, SSP Pulwama Gh Jeelani Wani, CEO Pulwama, ARTO Pulwama, Medical staff of DH Pulwama, teaching and non-teaching staff of GDC Pulwama, other schools, respectable citizens of Pulwama and Civil/Police officers and about 4000 students of different schools also participated in the rally.

On this occasion, the SSP Pulwama gave an elaborated view about the menace of drugs, its sources, causes, consequences, role of every members of society. While speaking on the event, SSP Pulwama said that the issue of drug abuse is a challenge before the country. It is the duty of all stakeholders to join in creating awareness about the illegal use of drugs and the measures to be taken to prevent this menace. He advised the parents to pay keen attention towards the behaviour of their children & not to put any psychological pressure upon them which could attract them towards drug menace.

In a concluding para of the above referred statement the SSP Pulwama on this occasion also advised youth to take part in sports activities besides excelling in their academics for proper channelization of their energy. He also said that drug abuse has affected humanity in every aspect.  In order to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, public cooperation is necessary and stressed upon the participants to share information related to illicit drug supply in the area so that appropriate action under law may be taken.
