SP College organizes week-long Student Induction Prog ) under NEP-2020

Srinagar : The Dean Students Welfare (boys & girls wings), Career Counseling Cell and Mentor-Mentee Committee of Government Sri Pratap College, Srinagar on Thursday organized week long student induction programme (Deeksharamb) for the newly admitted students of undergraduate and integrated courses.

On different days students enrolled in different departments were given awareness aboutthe course structure under National Education Policy 2020 and the infrastructural facilities available in the college.

Dr. Khalida Hassan (Dean Students Welfare Girls Wing) gave introductory remarks aboutthe induction programme. The heads of different departments introduced to the students the details aboutthe subjects offered and the faculty profile of their respective departments.

A documentary showcasing the college in terms of facilities available was shown to the students to acquaint them with the college.

The Principal of the college Prof. (Dr.) Khurshid Ahmad Khan welcomed the newly admitted students and gave them information aboutthe historical importance of the college. He encouraged the students to be inquisitive and explore new possibilities of learning and personality development.

Prof. Mushtaq Ahmad Zargar (Convener Discipline Committee) gave a brief to the students aboutthe different dimensions of discipline in the college.

Dr. Javaid Hasan and Dr. Showkat Ahamd Wani gave lectures on the framework of subject and credit distribJ&Kion under NEP 2020 which is being implemented in the college from this session. They explained to the students the provision of multiple entry and exit, incorporation of major/minor/multidisciplinary subject combinations, and importance of four year honours degree. Dr. Shahjahan Wani gave a motivational lecture on high thinking and how students can get rid of the fear psychosis.

Dr. Syeda Misbah Andrabi explained to the students the importance of mentor-mentee relationship and how the college is going to implement it in the coming days.

Dean Students Welfare (Boys Wing) Dr. Jan Shabir elaborated on facilities present in the Department of Physics and how students can get maximum benefit from them. The vote of thanks and culminating remarks were presented by Prof. Bashir Ahmad Mir (Dean Academics).
